The members of the choir are people with dementia and their carers. The choir is conducted by Kate Woolveridge, a member of Welsh National Opera, and is supported by the Alzheimers Society and Nexus. Nexus provides hands on support by attending the Monday evening rehearsals in the Bethany Chapel, Heol Llanishen Fach, Rhiwbina, Cardiff. Two or three times a year the choir performs in concerts in prestigious venues such as the Millennium Centre Cardiff Bay, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In May this year the choir will perform in Caerphilly Castle.
Singing has proved to have great therapeutic qualities for people with dementia and the range of music delivered, excerpts of Verdi to recent popular tunes and hymns provide a rich selection.
