4 Winds update

4Winds is an independent, user led mental health charity working to improve mental health and wellbeing in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

4Winds is currently playing its part in reducing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID 19) and is still delivering the majority of its services remotely. The centre will remain closed for open access groups until it is safe for people using it and working there. We are returning to our office base and are starting to offer 1:1 sessions in person. We also facilitate outdoor peer support sessions and activities in the community. Please contact us for details.

We continue to offer our full range of support services via telephone, email and online support, including the Tier 0 guided self help sessions available via Gp referral in the Cardiff City and South Gp cluster (Grangetown and Butetown). As we are not yet able to run any indoor groups/peer support, we have a number of online zoom groups available during the week. These are :

  • 2pm every Monday – a reading/watching/listening group – an opportunity for people to get together to share what books they are reading, music they are listening to, films they are watching, etc
  • 11.30am every Wednesday – women only zoom chat – general chat looking at coping with lockdown, sharing ideas and some creative activities planned
  • 2pm every Thursday – a general discussion group with occasional activity/information session – today’s session had discussion and links on mindfulness and relaxation techniques shared, lots more topics and sessions to be held
  • 12.30pm every Friday – a lunchtime group. A simple recipe will be shared in advance and a worker will support this by talking through the steps to make a simple lunch to enjoy with others. It will be informal with a chance to chat with peers and all are welcome whether cooking or not.

Please contact us for the invite links to these if anyone would like to join.
