South Wales Police – Public Protection Department, Mental Health

The Public Protection Department within the South Wales Police operates with 5 mental health officers within South Wales Police footprint.

Since January 2019 South Wales Police operate a mental health triage team in their public service centre at police headquarters, Bridgend staffed 7 days a week with core hours of 0900-0100. The team of community psychiatric nurses offer advice, guidance and signposting for persons in contact with the police who may be vulnerable with mental illness.
