The Relatives Association is an organisation of relatives and friends of older people in homes and long-stay hospitals. They can offer support and advice on the practical, financial and emotional aspects of caring for someone in a Home, as well as guidelines on what to look for in a Home. The Relatives Association runs an ‘Advice Line’, which is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Telephone: 020 7359 8136.

The Association has some paid staff, but the charitable organisation relies heavily on the work of volunteers. There is a newsletter and a list of publications. Yearly membership is available for a donation for both individuals and organisations, but this can be waivered if it cannot be afforded.
