Adult Community Learning - DICE (Disability Inclusion in Community Education)

Aims and Objectives:

This Project aims to promote social inclusion and wellbeing by removing barriers to access and engaging adults with mental health problems in educational courses that facilitate the development of skills needed to be able to participate in community, leisure, social, educational and employment opportunities. It is a specialist service within Cardiff Council's ACL and The Vale ACL Service that aims to enable adults with disabilities to engage/re-engage in learning activities. The courses are designed to engage adults with mental health issues into learning

Services:

The Service provides courses catering specifically for people with:

Mental Health Problems.
Learning Difficulties
Physical impairments and /or Acquired Brain Injuries
Recreational course for adults with high support additional needs

The course provides:

Advice, guidance and support
Small classes in accessible venues
Experienced tutors who are aware of learners' specific needs
Learning with others who also have experience of the effects of a period of poor mental health
A safe, supportive learning environment

Referrals:

Self referral and referrals can be made via day services, hospitals, CMHT staff, voluntary sector.
